Former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin says he will give his newly minted successor Ismail Sabri Yaakob his full support.
He also pledged to help the "Perikatan Nasional government" serve the people.
"I will give my full support to him, and God willing, will continue to help the PN government extend the best service to the people, especially in the country's recovery period," the Bersatu president said in a Facebook post tonight.
Ismail, who was sworn in as prime minister earlier today, had paid Muhyiddin a visit at his residence in Kuala Lumpur.
Ismail had been appointed prime minister after securing the support of 114 MPs.
Muhyiddin had previously said that support for Ismail from PN's 50 lawmakers was on the condition that no one facing criminal charges in court would be appointed to the cabinet.
This was seen as an attempt to block Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi - who is on trial for corruption - and some of his followers from being appointed to office.
Zahid's faction in Umno had been responsible for ousting the Bersatu president from the prime minister post.
This is also the second time Muhyiddin has called Ismail's government a PN one, instead of a BN one.
With 50 MPs, PN is the largest partner in the Ismail government. The prime minister's own coalition BN has 42 MPs.
Muhyiddin’s party Bersatu is expected to get a deputy prime minister spot.
Bersatu supreme council member Eddin Syazlee Shith had also said there was a suggestion to appoint Muhyiddin as a minister mentor during talks with BN, but this has not been finalised.
