KUALA LUMPUR: Shares in Dagang Nexchange Bhd (DNeX) rose in early trade Tuesday after winning the bid to acquire semiconductor fabricating company SilTerra Malaysia Sdn Bhd. The counter, the most actively traded on Bursa Malaysia, added 6.76%, or 2.5 to 39.5 sen with 330 million shares done. DNeX-WD, however, fell 7.69%, or 0.5 sen to six sen. A consortium led by DNeX has won the bid to acquire SilTerra from Khazanah Nasional Bhd. DNeX said the national sovereign wealth fund had accepted the bid last Friday. “Acceptance of the bid is still subject to strict confidentiality with Khazanah and no further details of the bid can be publicly disclosed until the signing of the definitive agreement. "The company will make the necessary announcements on a timely basis in accordance with the Listing Requirements when there is any material development arising from the above event or when the definitive agreement has been entered into," it said. Khazanah had earlier opened up the bid for Silterra to foreign investors, which attracted global giants such as Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer Foxconn and German-based semiconductor foundry X-Fab.
